The Tuskegee Airmen, nicknamed the Red Tails, were the first African American military aviators in the United States armed forces. Despite systematic discrimination the pilots fought bravely during WWII and helped to secure the allied victory.

The P-51 Mustang was one of the planes the Tuskegee Airmen flew. It was the aircraft that changed history. Claiming 4,950 enemy aircraft shot down, the P-51 Mustang American fighter plane became an icon of WWII American pride and ingenuity. During World War II America's fighting planes went from defensive to offensive, transitioning from escorts to American bombers to direct combat with German fighter planes. Now, this bold airplane sculpture honors those brave pilots who flew and fought for our freedom.

Each airplane is masterfully handcrafted of artist's resin and hand-painted to highlight every amazing detail, from the authentic U.S. Military insignia to the propellers that really spin. The wings of each sculpture showcase the powerful imagery of acclaimed military artist Lance Russwurm, superbly recreated in vivid color and detail, while the mahogany finished base boast raised relief sculptures of the terrain over which each plane flew its missions. A golden metal title plaque adds the final distinguished touch.
