Romare Bearden (American, 1911–1988) explored subject matter that
highlighted his interests in the humanities and his deep engagement with
African American life and culture. Best known as a master collagist,
Bearden often referenced classical, biblical, and mythological subjects
and scenes of contemporary life, capturing the people and places of the
rural South, the urban North, and the Caribbean. This calendar features
