Marla Oliphant is a native of
Mexico. She came to the United States as a child; even then she knew
she wanted to be a dancer and an artist. After accomplishing her
first dream of dancing, after 20 years, she retired from dancing and
became an artist.
Marla is a self-taught artist.
While living in New Orleans, she learned the art of pastel portraits
by watching the artist in Pirates Alley. Marla’s favorite form of
art is portraits, but she loves the challenges of different subjects
and mediums. Her reputation as a portrait artist is well known
especially in the South were she has been commissioned to do many
celebrities and other prominent figures.
