The sun is rising on the horizon and the heat is already shimmering in the distance. My husband leads me to where his cattle stand grazing and invites me to choose my ng' ombe bora (favorite cow). It is his gift to me. I will tend this cow and it will nourish our family. My ng' ombe bora symbolizes my husbands love for me".
